Revisiting Hokkien Mee at "Redifussion"

The five of us like Hokkien Mee -- black mee with lots of lard! There are of course many stalls featuring this Hot Seller, like the one at Jalan 222, or the one near Pudu.

But, we just wanna to revisit the Hokkien mee at the former Redifussion or opposite the General Hospital. This stall was patronised when I was still small, decades ago. I am sure it has either passed down to the next generation, or maybe change hands. Anyhow, the 5 of us decided to re-visit this stall.

Yummy, yummy, this popular fat yellow noodle fried with lots of lard really taste so good. The fried lard added to it before serving definitely enhances the flavour. Just forget about health, when you are indulging in this sinful Hokkien mee.

Not to forget the wonderful sambal that goes with it.

Not sure whether this Hokkien Mee is still cooked using a charcoal stove. Actually, those cooked using the traditional way gives the Hokkien Mee a special fragrance and “got kick” compares to using gas stoves.

We also ordered the cantonese fried, "Ying Yeong", and this stall also serves the "Loh mee" and Fried "Pak Kor".

If you want to have a taste of these, prepare to park along the main road of Jalan Pahang. Parking is a bit problematic here.

And, I forgot to mention here that the tables are normally placed along the five-foot pavement of the shops next to this stall. So, be prepared to sweat it out!!

The Prince Has Arrived !

The little prince has finally arrived on 8 October 2008. And he will be my Godson!

I have created a new blog for this, and the old postings in the wonderprincesses will be moved here. You see, the old blog could not be used because of prince's arrival. Therefore, I have created a new blog at: http://wonderkids.spaces.live.com/

DE-STRESS ALA FUTSAL

I found out that I need no massage therapist to help me to de-stress. I found out on last Friday that playing FUTSAL with my kool colleagues can do just that.....sweating out once a while rather than putting my lazy body on that comfortable couch!

There is always first time in everything we do. A week ago, upon hearing that Michael & Jaseemah came up with idea of FUTSAL, my eyes lit because I’ve always wanted to play futsal but too shylah!

So, Michael and Jaseemah keep the ball rolling looking for FUTSAL players at the office and Hooray the squad went enthusiastically to Taman Megah last Friday. The Game was really, really fun....and it is about a bunch of gals&guys...one or two with skills and techniques while some just "bantai" lah...like myself.

Of course Futsal is a quick game, and after less than 5-mins, Zul "cedera ringan" and was sent out to the bench. Who cares about the misses or "Bocor"? The ladies? After less than 10-mins, it's Timed-Out for most of us!!

Myself? Of course...Out of breath and panting , what else?

Apart from the bruise I had (from Wira's 'gentle' kick!), I had a good time. And I'm sure all have.

Thanks to Michael, Jas, Guna, Kamal, Athia & hubby, Normala, Athia, Zul (dah OK ke kaki?), Azidah, Desmond, Wira, Emma, Erlena, Anizah's husband.

And do keep the Futsal Mania or Fever goooooing......See you all Next week??

Ice-Cream Sandwich

I remember when I was in primary school, I alway envy the other kids having ice-cream sandwiched with wafers.  I found this when we were walking along Orchard Road in Singapore recently.
But this uses bread instead of wafer.

Can't help, but stopped by to have a bite.  See how my sis enjoys her ice-cream.

A Little Trip to Brisbane
There's not very much to explore in the city of Brisbane. For one-day, we managed to visit Brisbane's main shopping attraction Queen Street Mall, which have I believe have more than 500 stores.

Everything from designers stores to souvenir shops are a plenty here!
Queen Street Mall is actually Brisbane’s main street, very long street, which of course made us walked aimlessless for more than half hour to search for our car!The mall itself are semi-covered to provide shade, and there are many eateries, with nice landscape/decor.

There even is an open air stage where live music and aspiring singers can perform

Gold Coast - Getting Started

This is the apartment that we stayed during our trip. Very nice apartment situated at Runaway Bay!

Bradley, the caretaker, was such a nice person...as he hold my hand and led us to our unit...much to the amusement of Goh and the rest.
We also had a our fair share of "fire drill" on the last nite of our stay at Broadwater Shores. Fire alarm was triggered and we all ran down ...of course bringing our important documents and the priceless cameras...with our memories in them!! Turn out to be FALSE alarm, and we went back to our unit....get a good laugh because an old couple dash down without their dentures!!!
Having Fish and Chips during the first day.
Good food but serving was so large that Olive and the rest vow that no more fish & chips for the rest of the week!Having a wonderful dinner at Cavill Mall @ Surfers Paradise. Oysters were so fresh and only cost AUD12.50 for 1/2 dozen.

Look how engrossed Goh is enjoying his Hot and Spicy Octopus!
The next day we were at Surfers Paradise area for breakfast. The first day was to find parking, and then figuring out how the parking meter works!
Well, they don't name Friday as Good Friday for nothing. Being a Friday, parking was indeed free!
Chevron Renaissance is the lifestyle centre/shopping centre of Surfers Paradise, also our landmark throughout the traveling. It is also metres away from the Surfers Paradise beach.
Also the place we had our breakfast and dinner.

Walking down the street at Chevron Renaissance and located the tourist booth, where we got our leaflets and maps that will 'show' us around Gold Coast.

Wow, the guys found the Condom Kingdom. See how excited Loke is?

See SEA WORLD
Sea World is a 'must visit' place if you have never been.
The Sea World takes us into a world of amazing marine wildlife, shows, rides and some educational lessons that cater for all ages. In fact, the Sea World is my favourite amongst all the "worlds" in Gold Coast.
We hop into monorail and Sky Way cable-cars to catch bird's-eye view of the panoramic Dolphin nursery, the waterski show, and of course the thrilling Pirate Ship, Bermuda Triangle, Corkscrew Rollercoaster.
If only I am not one to be scared of heights, then things would be greater!!

The Dolphin and Seal Shows, watch feeding dugongs, playful polar bears and a diversity of tropical fish species entralled us, particularly the to a fish lover like my hubby!
The Dolphin Cove Show is a crowd winner - the dolphin trainers and the mammals are indeed entertainers! The dophins jump to handsigns, take the trainers for a searide, and even wave their tails to say goodbye!

See SEA WORLD - A unique experience and education!
There is also Cartoon Network Cartoon Beach - a place where cartoon characters like Powerpuff Girls, Cow and Chicken, Tom & Jerry came greeting ypo. It is fun to be here.....(to be continued)

Gold Coast Theme Parks

I don't fancy theme parks or the rides, but what is Gold Coast without visiting the famous three - Sea World, Dream World and Movie World. I thought it would be wise to experience these excitement and all these youthful activities before this body of mine give way!
So, there we go...Sea, Dream and finally Movie World
At WB KidsMovie World isn't all about the rollercoasters or terror rides like Scooby-Doo, Spooky Coaster,Ride Lethal Weapon, but rather to be see the characters or super heroes that I used adore when I was small --Roadrunner, Daffy, Tweety, and of course the never-miss Scooby,Scooby Dooo..Fancy a photo with Marilyn Monroe?

The parade show is the best thing about Movieworld, but unfortunately on that day, this has to make way for the Get Smart Premier! Well, I felt shortchanged.....and guess I am entitle to some explanation by the WB Movie World management. Or at least some discount to the exhorbitant entry fee of more than A$60 (equivalent to about RM190...or to some of us, this can be our 1 month decent lunch meals!!).
Dreamworld is about thrill rides, encounters with wildlife and cartoon character, IMAX movies, etc, etc.
Talking about IMAX movies --- The 5 of us fell asleep during the Australia wildlife IMAX movie and has to be excused before we are being sent out for disturbing other spectators with our SNORES..zzzz....zzzz.

The two new stars in Crocodile Dundee?
Hop onto the train at Central Station, and it will bring us all to the good old times

Inside Dreamworld, you are back to the good old times of the Gold Rush.
Care to become a Horse Thief? No, no, I ended up being "Wanted Dead or Alive". Or worse, Goh was brought to the guillotine!

Dream of a Sweet World ....hmm..hmm Candy or Chocolate World is just right for me.
Dream of being a kid forever ? And Hug your favourite cartoon?

Ever dream of posing with the Big Cat?
Yes, in Dreamworld you can

What an awesome World !

My First Aussie Experience

My first aussie experience was shared with my hubby and our friends Loke, Mei Ling and Olive. Our journey started on 18 June evening on board of "Now everyone can fly". Of course, budget airline is not everyone cup of tea, but the 5 eager beavers wouldn't care....as long as it brings us there!
After 8-hours of "uncomfortable and sleepless night, we finally arrive at Coolangata, Gold Coast airport. Being a globe trotter/jet setter and having been to countless countries, I hate to say this, but getting into Australia is MOST UNFRIENDLY!
The questions they asked you at the Immigration really make you an ILLEGAL IMMIGRANT, although you never thought to be one at the 1st place. Customs is another episode that I will never forget. What started as a simple question of "Can I bring in a bar of chocolate which I buy at the airport?" became the 1st step for further scrutiny and repeated questions (same as those from the immigration earlier)!
Our friends were waiting, but finally we went through the AGONY. With pleasant weather, cleanliness and good discipline of Aussie, I finally put the bad experience behind me. Yes, I am here for a GOOD holiday, and I would not want these silly procedures spoil it all. But then, I post them here so that more holiday makers come prepared.
